This vacancy is being advertising internally in the first instance to employees and agency workers of Northumberland County Council. Due to the expansion of employment contracts delivered within the service, an opportunity has arisen for an additional Employment and Skills Lead Officer to work one of the services Employment Programmes. The Lead Officer will work across Northumberland which may include the North (Alnwick and Berwick) or the South East area of the County. Flexibility is imperative and you should also be able to work on an agile basis and manage staff who work in this way, whilst ensuring productivity and Health and Safety.

You will have responsibility for overseeing the management of the operational delivery staff managing the performance, productivity and wellbeing of your team. This will include making all the necessary arrangements for the resourcing of the programme including the timetabling of staff, facilities and resources, therefore you will need to demonstrate exemplary attention to detail, good time management skills, and the ability to prioritise whilst meeting deadlines and a can-do attitude.

Duties will also include carrying out staff observations and CRM system audits providing supportive feedback, identifying skills gaps and training needs, along with conducting appraisals and performance development reviews.

From time to time you may have responsibility for a small caseload of participants; therefore you should have practical experience of working directly with people in the field of employment-related services. We are looking for an individual who has experience of working with a high volume of customers in a target driven environment, a performance-driven attitude and a proven track record of achieving employment performance and quality outcomes successfully. Leading by example you will have the skills and ability to be able to support your staff to achieve KPI’s through coaching and development.

On a day-to-day basis, you will work closely with the services Business and Integration Manager and external Supply Chain Manager; therefore you will need to feel at ease building professional and successful relationships and should be comfortable presenting information to stakeholders.

The service works across the full Northumberland area and you should have a good understanding of Northumberland including challenges, opportunities and local services that can support the successful delivery of employment programmes to residents and job seekers.

This is a full time, permanent position.
