The Headteacher and Governors of Ellington Primary School are looking to recruit a highly motivated, skilled and enthusiastic teaching assistant to support across the school.

Ellington Primary School is a single-form entry primary school, which serves the villages of Ellington and Cresswell on the beautiful Northumberland coast. Due to the excellent reputation of the school, pupils are also drawn from a very large local area with an increasing number of children being transported from outlying areas.

The successful candidate will provide support to students, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement.

Your role will complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities under an agreed system of supervision. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individuals/groups or, short term, for whole classes. You will support with the resourcing and development of interventions under the direction of the class teachers.

The Application

Shortlisting will be carried out according to criteria which will be assessed using the completed application form and the letter of application that should accompany it. In this letter it would be helpful if you describe the core beliefs which shape your approach to teaching and learning and the impact you have had on the practice of other teachers. In essence, we want to know what you can offer our school and pupils.

The Interview

Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email/phone as soon as possible.

The interview will be designed to give candidates every possible opportunity to demonstrate their strengths. It will include an element of interactive work with pupils which will be signalled clearly in the letter inviting candidates for interview.

If successful you will be required to apply for an enhanced Disclosure.

Completed application forms must be returned to admin@ellington.northumberland.sch.uk no later than 12 noon on Friday 11th February.

We have yet to finalise the arrangements for the interview, but they will take place during the week beginning February 14th.

Please supply an email address for both of your referees, references will be taken up and verified prior to interview.

This post is a fixed term contract, initially until July 2022. However, there is the potential that this position may be made permanent.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced criminal records check is required for this post.

Further information about the school can be found on our website.
