*This post attracts the Newcastle Living Wage supplement. In addition to the hourly rate, this post will receive the Newcastle Living Wage supplement to bring the hourly rate up to a minimum of £9.90 an hour.

An opportunity exists for a suitable individual to work within the Facility Services Division as an:

Assistant Chef at West Jesmond Primary School
25 hours week, term time only (39 weeks)

Typical duties within this post will be to assist the chef to provide a high-quality catering service to the client / school by assisting in the organisation, preparation, and service delivery of all requested catering. In accordance with the School Food Standards and the City Council Customer Service Charter.

There is a responsibility to assist the chef to organise the kitchen, supervise staff and resources on a day-to-day basis. To ensure the preparation and serving of the designated daily menu is in accordance with appropriate standards and procedures.

It is essential you hold a minimum NVQ level 2 in Food Processing and Cooking and or the equivalent qualification. You must have a minimum 3 years’ experience within a busy catering environment. It is essential that you can work flexible hours and capable of good relationships with others.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
