Further Information
An exciting opportunity has arisen to get more people, from targeted low socio-economic groups, physically active in a new role coordinating a Sport England programme, funded by the National Lottery, and delivered by the Football Foundation. This post will be based in Berwick - Upon - Tweed

The role involves the coordination of The Active Through Football programme which aims to increase activity levels and create sustained behaviour change through a Place-based approach. Whilst Northumberland County Council are the lead organisation, it is with a consortium of partners working together to deliver a targeted plan that aims to tackle inequalities, through the delivery of recreational football and physical activity. Having the ability to engage, communicate and motivate people in our hard-to-reach groups is a key attribute for a successful candidate.

As Project Manager, you will act as the project’s main point of contact, working in collaboration with community partners and be responsible for the effective implementation and development of the programme. This is a five-year funded programme during which time you will oversee the development, expansion and sustainability of sessions. You will also be the point of contact to the Football Foundation and Sport England, providing progress updates as required over the duration of the project.

You will have a good understanding of the area and the barriers that people face to become physically active. Working with partners and their established groups, the project will use physical activity to address issues that people face with mental health, physical health, unemployment skills and antisocial behaviour.

You will have worked with or have lived experience of targeted groups in a community-based setting, experience of partnership working, community development and knowledge of networks linked to local communities. You will be passionate for making a positive difference in communities who may be the least heard.

You will have excellent communication skills, both written and oral with excellent organisation, project, and time management skills.

Your role will include the line management of any delivery staff, volunteers, and apprentices and to ensure that all activity is safely delivered.

There will be some budget monitoring involved as well as the ability to prepare, write and present reports on the progress of the project.

Some weekend and evening work may be required to meet the needs of the participants as there are expectations that you will attend and ideally help deliver some of the sessions.

An Enhanced DBS will be required.

Whilst this is a part time position, you may be interested in another parttime position that we are making available that compliments this post. We will be advertising for a part time Sports Development Officer for North Northumberland, which can be shared with this post.

This is a part time, fixed term role.
