Fixed term for 1 year to cover a period of staff leave.

If you are enthusiastic, creative and committed, don’t miss this exciting opportunity to join the award winning Great North Museum: Hancock in a key role. You will develop, co-ordinate and deliver a programme of research engagement over the next year, helping to enrich the visitor experience at the museum through engagement with academic research.

You will bring strong project management experience to oversee the practical process of developing interdisciplinary research collaborations. You will have experience of mediating the creative integration of research into public programming, and of museums supporting Higher Education to enrich the student experience.

A confident and experienced communicator, you will be working with the wider museum team to build structural links and relationships to ensure academic research is embedded in all museum activity, facilitating conversations between researchers and museum staff to activate the collections in new ways. You will collaborate closely with colleagues working on exhibitions and public engagement, playing a key role in creating a culture where research is present throughout the museum’s content and programmes.

We believe that inspiring and engaging access to science and culture can improve the life chances of children and young people. If you do too, then we’d love to meet you. So if you share our ethos of realising the museum’s potential as a research resource, are a creative, self-starter, who believes culture can do good things for society, happy to work under your own initiative with confident interpersonal skills, and experience of driving innovation by bringing cutting-edge research to life, we are waiting to hear from you!
