Further Information
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Newcastle City Council’s Home to School Travel Assistance Service for children and young people with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND).

The SEND Transport team is looking to expand our offer to children and young people in Newcastle with SEND by delivering a package of independent travel training for those children and young people that will benefit from it. Independence is a high priority in order to maximise the life chances for our children and young people. By increasing independence, we aim to help children and young people to live a fuller life in their local community and enhance their life opportunities taking them in to adulthood.

The successful applicant will work closely with families, schools, and the transport team to ensure this opportunity is available to all young people who will benefit from it to support them in meeting their full potential. You will be working with the Transport Officer in developing the service to meet ever-changing demands.

We are looking for a team player with the ability to think outside the box and problem solve in line with the council’s safeguarding policy. You will need excellent verbal & written communications skills, the ability to multi-task, problem solve under pressure, deal with changing priorities and be able to implement dynamic risk assessments in order to safeguard young people in the community.

We are Proud, Fair, Ambitious. We are Newcastle.
