The Service
Fleet Transport operates throughout Northumberland and is responsible for the maintenance and roadworthiness of the fleet of vehicles and equipment operated across Northumberland. The successful apprentice will work alongside experienced staff undertaking a range of scheduled maintenance/reactive maintenance and repairs
The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Fleet Transport Workshop for an apprentice. Although applicants do not need to have any prior experience, they must be willing to undertake duties to gain experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance supported with offsite training.
Working within a Fleet Workshop in an active Roles in Fleet Maintenance are physical in nature, and may involve lifting and moving of equipment, working at heights and working in confined spaces.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post. Highways Maintenance operates strictly within the requirements of health and safety legislation
This opportunity provides experience to work whilst you learn and develop key skills that will be valuable throughout your career. Your responsibilities as an Apprentice include:
Assist with the preparation of types of vehicles and equipment up to DVSA MOT standard
Assist with the diagnosis of faults on various types of vehicles and equipment
Over time gain the ability to carry out scheduled servicing, maintenance and fault finding
Be responsible for onsite Health and Safety at all times
Although applicants do not need to have any prior experience, they must be willing to undertake duties and training to gain experience in Heavy vehicle service and maintenance technician Apprenticeship, all responsibilities will be supported with offsite apprenticeship training.

What you need:
- GCSE Maths and English Grade 4/C or above (or predicted) or Level 2 Functional skills.
