What is Neighbourhoood Services:
The primary purpose of Neighbourhood Services is to work with local communities and other partner organisations to improve the appearance of our neighbourhoods. It includes local parks, football fields and other open spaces; waste collection, recycling and improving the quality of the environment in our county. We look at ways to make our communities more sustainable, self-sufficient and safer places.

The role:
The main duties of the role are to support colleagues (key Technical Officers) in providing an effective and efficient administration service to the Neighbourhood Services Team based at Lionheart Depot in Alnwick. As well as the services outlined, there are several new projects the team are working on including a glass recycling programme and a food waste trial.
The apprenticeship:
You will be given all the training you need for the role, four days on the job training with the neighbourhood services team and one day a per week with Northumberland Skills, the training provider. They will help you gain the skills and knowledge you need to succeed.
Our Apprenticeships are structured training programmes which give you the opportunity to gain on the job experience, earn and work towards a recognised level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship.
What does the day to day look like:
- Provide general administrative tasks such as processing information, creation and collating of documents, photocopying.
- Maintain information systems such as filing, uploading and extraction of data.
- Gather and enter data into spreadsheets, databases and other electronic information systems.
- Operate bespoke software which includes working with mapping systems.
- Assist colleagues on site visits, take photographs and log details of visits.
- Send and receive emails, accept and make telephone calls, deal with internal and external customers, answer straight forward queries
About you:
- Like to work in a team but also be able to work on your own when given specific tasks
- Detail focussed - with an enquiring mind, you like to get involved in the nitty gritty
- Enjoy IT systems and working with computers
- Like to travel to different sites across North Northumberland
- Be kind and courteous when dealing with colleagues and with customers and residents of Northumberland
- Strong organisation skills and good time management skills
- Enthusiastic and reliable
- Want to help the environment and make Northumberland a more sustainable place to live

What you need:
- GCSE Maths and English Grade 4/C or above (or predicted) or Level 2 Functional skills.
- Dedication and commitment to complete your apprenticeship over 15 months.
The team is primarily based at Lionheart Depot in Alnwick. With site visits across North Northumberland. If you can drive it is advantageous but not essential.
