Apprenticeship summary
From 1 April 2022, the National Minimum Wage is between £4.81 and £9.50 an hour, depending on the candidate's age. Contract is Term Time only i.e. is not required to work during school holidays and therefore above salary will be adjusted accordingly

Working week
Monday to Thursday 8am - 4pm Friday 8am - 3.30pm . 30 minute lunch break every day. Term Time only ie not required to work during school holidays

What will the apprentice be doing?
- Providing clerical & administrative support, including receiving visitors
- Answering/making telephone calls, taking & sending messages & handling general enquiries
- Working closely with managers, teachers, and other support staff
- Record keeping & managing data using school packages
- Dealing with a wide variety of student enquiries on student reception
- Health & Safety Tasks including first aid provision, car park monitoring & supporting the office manager with daily health and safety duties.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Business Administration Level 3 - Equivalent to 2 A Levels
- The apprentice will be school based on a term-time only contract but will be entitled to day release - one day per week.
- The day release will be taken in school and a quiet work space will be allocated for this purpose. This will provide time for the student to complete their apprentice studies
- As well as the formal training provided by the apprenticeship programme, full training and support will be provided by the school on a daily basis, as appropriate

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
A number of options may be available, none of which are guaranteed, but possibilities include:
- Possible movement onto an alternative higher level course
- Possible further employment at St Mary’s or another school with the Trust. There are 39 schools within the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust
- Possible career progression within other educational or business establishments

Things to consider
The role will include supporting all school staff with admin tasks, as and when required, engaging in whole school training e.g. Safeguarding, and completing first aid training and any other school specific training, relevant to the role and the training programme. Enhanced DBS clearance is essential
