Youth Justice Service

Are you committed to providing excellent services to children and families? Do you want a job where you can make a direct impact in the community? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced Youth Justice Officer to work within Newcastle Justice Service based in Newcastle Civic Centre.

You would be part of an experienced and supportive team, providing high quality and effective youth justice services on a citywide basis.

You will have experience of working with young people, and of effective multi-agency partnership working. You will be responsible for the completion of assessments (including the identification of risk and vulnerability factors), developing support plans and delivering intervention.

The work is varied and there can be fluctuations in demand with periods of significant increase. We therefore require you to be flexible, enthusiastic and committed to working with statutory partners, local and national organisations to improve outcomes for young people.

You should have a NVQ level 4 qualification in Child Care, Social Care or an equivalent and relevant discipline.

We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful, we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.

For an informal discussion, please contact Knox Walton, Team Manager, or Gary Bell, Service Manager on 0191 2777377.
