Further Information
Newcastle is a great city, and we’re proud of what we do.

If you’d like to make a difference to the residents of Newcastle, being part of the Commissioning and Procurement Team could be the role for you.

We’re recruiting two Commissioning and Procurement Officers to work across the adult social care and inclusion agendas, which means you’ll have experience or knowledge of adult social care services (including residential care, day care, supported living schemes), Public Health services (sexual health, stop smoking programmes, drugs and alcohol support), homelessness and rough sleeping services, services that support people who have experienced domestic abuse, and the role that prevention has in reducing risk of harm or crisis.

We’re looking for someone who understands the local systems and how the services we commission respond to local need. You’ll have a demonstrable knowledge and understanding of commissioning, quality and performance assessment principles (including the role of monitoring and outcomes-based commissioning) across the adult social care or inclusion category areas. You will ideally be CIPS qualified, or be able to demonstrate experience of procurement activity and you’ll also have excellent communication skills and be able to establish and maintain relationships with key internal and external partners to ensure the value of our contracts are maximised to improve outcomes for our residents.

If you are committed to working in a system that supports people to live their best life then this is an exciting time to join us. You can hear more about what it’s like to be part of our team by speaking with either: Sean Cocking, Programme Lead – Commissioning, sean.cocking@newcastle.gov.uk or Claire Knox, Programme Lead – Commissioning, claire.knox@newcastle.gov.uk

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
We are strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake a Basic Disclosure of Criminal Convictions and a range of other recruitment checks.
