The Service
The Highways Development Management team provides the role of the Highway Authority as a statutory consultee to the planning process. We provide advice throughout planning and secure appropriate legal agreements with developers to ensure that schemes promote the planning benefit intended.
The Role
As a Highways Development Management Technician, you will assist in the delivery of technical and administrative support in respect of planning applications and assist in the provision of consistent and proactive highways advice. You will be part of an efficient, effective and customer focussed Highways Development Management team, involved in providing statutory advice from scheme inception that prioritises the delivery of sustainable development in accordance with the emerging Northumberland Local Plan and national and local planning policies and guidance.
The post holder will work within the technical team to advise the Local Planning Authority of the highway and road implications of planning applications within monitored timescales.

Essential requirements:
You should have a good general education with at least 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including English and Maths and experience of planning applications, vehicular crossing processes, financial issues and administrative support work. You should have good written and oral communication skills and be conscientious with a flexible attitude to work.
Full, clean driving licence required.
