The Service
The Corporate Health and Safety Team comprises ten professional advisers who are committed to provide an excellent safety advisory service to all functions of Northumberland County Council and associated partner organisations.

The Role
You will be based at the Wansbeck Business Park in Ashington, Northumberland. A flexible hybrid working arrangement is in place to allow partial home working.

We are looking for a qualified Health and Safety Advisor who has at least specific experience in the construction/housing sector. The post holder will be managed as a member of the Council’s Corporate Health and Safety Team; however, the key role involves providing an advisory service to our arm’s length regeneration company, Advance Northumberland. Their activities include commercial, housing, construction, and project development. Key responsibilities include:

Advising construction and development sites on operational matters and compliance with health and safety law
Undertaking site audits and inspections as required by the business
Reporting to senior officers and board members, both in person and in writing
Deliver health and safety training
Liaise with Northumberland County Council Corporate Health and Safety team with regards to the service delivered

Essential requirements include:
A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent with at least three years’ experience working in a large organisation
Knowledge and experience of work in the construction and property sector
Current driving license
Able to determine priorities and work with limited supervision
