This vacancy is being advertised internally in the first instance to employees and agency workers of Northumberland County Council. The Service
The Procurement Service provides a range of effective, efficient and high-quality professional services. The team advises and provides support across all Council services including supporting members, managers, staff, services, schools and a range of external partners in the delivery of the Council’s objectives.

About the Role
Reporting directly into the Head of Procurement, you will be extremely important to the future success and reputation of the Procurement Service and you will be expected to successfully demonstrate a number of key skills in terms of customer relationships, service delivery, negotiation, leadership, management, commercial awareness and professionalism.

You will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, management and advice on all procurement issues across the organisation to ensure that the Council achieves value for money for its residents, supporting economic recovery and securing positive social and environmental outcomes for Northumberland.

You will be highly motivated and possess excellent communication, negotiation and IT skills, and the ability to analyse problems and issues. The ability to manage a diverse workload to deadlines, work to agreed procedures and translate complex information clearly and concisely is essential. Experience of working in a procurement role in a local authority or similar organisation would be an advantage as would knowledge of current procurement regulations and local government developments.

- A starting salary of £56,121 (rising to £59,558)
- 25 days annual leave plus public and bank holidays (rising to 30 after 5 years of service)(pro-rata for part-time employees)
