An opportunity exists for suitable individuals to work within the Facility Services and Civic Management Division of Operations Directorate as a Security Officer based at the Civic Centre, Newcastle.

We have 2 permanent contracts available working 37 hours per week with an additional 1.5-hour contractual overtime.

There are 2 shift patterns available:
1 x 4-day shifts working 07.00- 19.00 followed by 4 days off.
1 x 2-day shifts 07.00-19.00- & 2-night shifts 19.00-07.00 followed by 4 days off.

Each shift pattern attracts payment enhancements due to shift work and weekend working. The shift pattern involving night shift also attracts an enhancement for working between the hours of 20.00 and 06.00.

You should be reliable and have a strong commitment to high standards of service, attention to detail and customer care. You will be working in a busy environment, undertaking multiple tasks and dealing with clients, customers and members of the public.

Your main responsibilities will include monitoring electronic systems, monitoring CCTV, coordinating response to alarm activations including providing mobile assistance. Reporting breaches of security & preparing reports, ensuring security duties are carried out in accordance with agreed procedures.

It is essential that applicants’ hold a full UK Driving Licence, have excellent IT skills and a good telephone manner. Previous experience within the security industry would be advantageous as would a current SIA CCTV licence, if not all training will be provided. This post requires a Non-Police Personal Vetting level 2 (NPPV2) check.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their skills against the essential and desirable criteria within the person specification.
