To start January 2023 or as soon as possible after that date

The Governors of Ravenswood Primary School in Newcastle are looking for an outstanding primary teacher to join our excellent staff team and take on the role of Deputy Headteacher. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join our wonderful school and have a positive impact on its immediate and long term future.

The post will be a permanent appointment and is required for January 2023 or as soon as possible after that date.

Ravenswood Primary School is a community of learning. Our core purpose is to educate our young people to appreciate and understand the world that they live in and to be able to contribute to that world both now and in their futures.

We are a large primary school with a Nursery and three form entry throughout Reception and Key Stages 1 and 2. We have a wonderful diversity of pupils and incredibly supportive parents and carers. We have extensive grounds and a thriving extra-curricular provision.

At Ravenswood Primary School, we believe that the post of Deputy Headteacher should be filled by an outstanding teacher. Their key task will be to develop and improve teaching and learning across the school and it is therefore essential that they understand and can demonstrate consistently outstanding teaching themselves and have a proven track record of improving the teaching of others.

Our school is an exciting and thriving educational community, using both curricular and extra-curricular experiences to enhance our children’s love of learning and therefore we will be looking for a Deputy Headteacher who can play an active role in the life of the school and can celebrate this with all of our stakeholders.

We also believe that if our children are happy in school, then they stand the best chance of making excellent academic progress and so our Deputy Headteacher must enjoy working with children and will need to demonstrate a natural ability to engage with them and nurture their love of learning.

Ravenswood is a large, busy primary school, meaning that the Deputy Headteacher must be well organised and hard working and will need to be able to build strong and supportive working relationships with pupils, staff, governors and parents.

The school is strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to obtain an enhanced Certificate of Disclosure from the DBS and a range of other recruitment checks.

Application packs can be downloaded from the school website, collected from the school office or requested by contacting alison.west@ravenswoodprimary.co.uk

Prospective candidates should contact the school if they wish to have a tour before applying. This can be booked by contacting alison.west@ravenswoodprimary.co.uk

The closing date for applications will be 12 noon, Friday 7th October.
Those candidates who are shortlisted will be informed by Friday 21st October.
Interviews will take place in the week beginning 7th November.
