About the Role: To further strengthen our Learning Disability Team, we are recruiting an additional Advanced Practitioner to help support the development of our social work practice and work with people we support.
As a key member of the leadership team, Advanced Practitioners are expected to play a leading role, assisting their Team Manager to undertake reflective supervision and facilitate practice improvement, motivating and inspiring our practitioners to provide the highest standards of practice, that delivers positive outcomes for people, carers’ and their families.
Carrying a small, protected caseload of complex cases, the postholders will provide opportunities for co-working and developing others within the team. Providing coaching and mentoring for team members and students alike, they will help to raise standards of practice and ensure the service delivers a high-quality strength based social work service.
Working within our Learning Disabilities Team you will work collaboratively with a range of services, including hospital-based colleagues and neighbourhood teams.
About You: Driven by research, innovation and the desire to develop best practice, you must demonstrate an applied knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation and the NHS Continuing Health Care Framework and be willing to undertake further bespoke learning and development.
Registered with Social Work England and having significant post qualification experience, you will want to continue practicing in a setting that believes that people are at their healthiest and happiest when they are supported to remain independent, close to the people they love and who love them, in the neighbourhoods and communities they call home.

About South Tyneside: South Tyneside has a rich heritage and our history has played a major role in regional, national and even world history. It was a military strong hold for the Romans and an important centre for the early Christian church, where the Venerable Bede wrote his “Ecclesiastical History.” An area that was rich in coal with a key position on the River Tyne, it has a proud industrial and maritime past and was at the forefront of invention and innovation in these areas. Our Director of Public Health uses hypothetical children Jack and Emily to demonstrate the differences the two children born on the same day, but from different parts of the borough, and what impact that had on their health and wellbeing as they developed as children into adulthood. Jack was born in the ward of Simonside and Rekendyke and Emily in Cleadon and East Boldon Ward. Their journeys through life are quite shockingly different, culminating in jack expecting to live 75 years and Emily 87 years; a whole 12 years longer.
