The WorkPlace

Would you like to be part of an exciting project which will transform our offer to young people leaving care?

By putting young people in the lead, the WorkPlace project will deliver changes to services which make the most difference to them. Bringing together people and services, the WorkPlace will create new opportunities for young people leaving care to achieve their goals, and will support holistic change to young people’s experience in areas such as accommodation, well-being and relationships, through to skills for education training and employment.

We are looking for care experienced individuals who have received a leaving care service to contribute to the best possible outcomes for children looked after and young people leaving care in South Tyneside.

As a Sessional Worker with Children’s and Families Social Care you will be required to work on task and/or project basis. Examples include being part of an interview panel to recruit social care staff or being involved with training for social care teams. The role will reflect your skills and expertise.

For an informal discussion about this role please contact Mr. Alex Simpson, Leaving Care Opportunities Broker on (0191) 4272640 or Email: Alex.Simpson@southtyneside.gov.uk

You will be expected to:
• Be respectful of the experience and views of other children and young people at all times.
• Work within our guidelines for data protection and confidentiality - this means we ensure that personal data is not shared or misunderstood.
• Work within other Safeguarding policies and procedures as advised.

We offer an excellent benefits package and further information is available here - www.southtyneside.gov.uk/workinghere

South Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant pre-employment checks.

Closing date: Noon, 31 December 2022

Shortlisting and Interviews will take place on an on-going basis.
