An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of the Environmental Sustainability Team leading on the development, implementation and monitoring of the Sustainable South Tyneside Strategy and Action plan to achieve our net zero ambitions.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about environmental issues, highly motivated, a strong collaborator and able to undertake a wide variety of work. This will include working alongside other officers and Members as well as shaping the way forward by engaging with our residents, businesses and the wider community and partners to change behaviour.
The post holder will lead the delivery of the Council’s Climate Change programme, carbon reduction targets and environmental performance requirements. They will provide specialist advice, guidance and support on sustainability and climate change related activities.
Applicants should be strong in carbon accounting, analysis and interpretation of datasets, have good experience of identifying and developing carbon reduction projects (for a large organisation) and must be willing to have flexible approach to working hours as and when required.
