Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (TWAM) is a major regional museum, art gallery and archives service managing a collection of nine museums and galleries across Tyneside and the Archives for Tyne and Wear.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join this award winning service; we are seeking to recruit a enthusiastic and dedicated Facility Assistant to work as part of our Front of House team. The post will mainly be based at Segedunum Roman Fort.
The successful applicant will deliver a high standard of maintenance, security and safety to our venues and will work to a rota which will include rostered weekend and occasional evening working. The weekly average hours for the role will vary across the year due to seasonal opening hours.
This is a practical, hands-on roles and the post holder will be expected to undertake a range of activities associated with the general operation of TWAM’s museums and galleries. The post holder will provide general building and maintenance services, including opening and closing of buildings, technical support and room set up for corporate event operations and basic construction work for displays and exhibitions. They will also help to ensure safety of collections, exhibits and displays and assist with the moving and handling of them. They will be able to give basic guidance to visitors.
Applicants will have numeracy, literacy and IT skills as well as experience of building cleaning and maintenance.
