Foster a Future is Newcastle City Council’s Fostering Service, and we are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dynamic Social Work Senior Practitioner who can work constructively with Foster Carers and assist with Service Development.
You will need to have sound knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and be able to demonstrate excellent assessment, communication, and negotiation skills.
Experience of working with children, foster carers, parents, and other professionals is highly desirable and knowledge and experience of restorative practice would be an advantage. A good understanding of the Fostering Regulations, Guidance and National Minimum Standards 2011 (England) is expected.
You must have a relevant social work qualification, such as Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent, and a current Social Work England registration.
To apply for the role, you must have completed the Consolidation Module (PQ1) or have had a minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience in a children and families setting.
We are committed to protecting and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This post is working in regulated activity. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions, a check of police information and we will check the barred list(s). It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a job in regulated activity.
