Northumberland County Council, Virtual School Educational Psychologists – part-time contract and flexible consultancy opportunities available.

Northumberland County Council is recruiting an enthusiastic and motivated Virtual School Educational Psychologist (EP) to join our multi-disciplinary ESLAC (Education Support for Looked After Children) team that supports the education of looked after children and care leavers.

As a Virtual School, we are committed to the application of educational and psychological research to improve outcomes for looked after children and previously looked after children. We seek to promote the use of inclusive, evidence-based practices to help children and young people overcome barriers to educational achievement, social and emotional well-being and mental health.

The post holder will provide an educational psychology service to children, teachers, schools and settings as well as working as part of care teams. Passion and determination for supporting our most vulnerable children is an essential part of the role.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a proactive multi-disciplinary team in which the post-holder will play a key role in developing trauma informed practice across the county, working on projects linked to key priorities such as attendance, and trailblazing a system of EP oversight of children on entry to care. Offering support through these systems at different levels as required is an integral part of the role. The post holder will report to the Lead EP.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post

Applications are welcomed from fully qualified HCPC registered Educational Psychologists and from Trainee Educational Psychologists in the third year of their doctoral training.

The post is a 0.35 FTE, permanent role but working arrangements can be discussed further.

We also have various opportunities for flexible consultancy work, which could be undertaken virtually.

For an informal discussion on any of the opportunities, please contact Dr Susan Macquart, Virtual School Lead Educational Psychologist on 07858 687 539 or email: susan.macquart@northumberland.gov.uk
