Fixed Term contract for 18 months

The Emotional Resilience Team is part of South Tyneside Educational Psychology Service, which is a friendly, highly supportive and nurturing team of educational psychologists, specialist teachers and emotional resilience officers. The Service is very well regarded by its users, as is evident from the consistently excellent feedback it receives. It maintains highly positive working relationships with schools, other professionals and the Local Authority. There are opportunities to engage in a wide variety of work, including behaviour support, emotional resilience interventions, and supporting the transition of children moving from primary to secondary education.

This post is in partnership with the Violence Reduction Unit, which is part of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office. Positive, pro-social behaviours in schools are essential. Creating a supportive and caring culture and safe learning environment ensures that all students can flourish and benefit from the opportunities provided by education. It is essential that schools have a range of tools to establish high standards of behaviour and maintain the safety of school communities.

You will have a designated caseload of students based in schools across South Tyneside and the opportunity to get involved in a range of different work to help to support children and young people who may be presenting with challenging behaviours. with ensuring a smooth transition from primary to secondary education, whilst also supporting children and young people in schools to improve social, emotional and behavioural development and to remove barriers to learning.

You will also provide additionality to the existing support mechanisms to improve attendance, behaviours and self-esteem.

We are seeking an emotional resilience officer who is willing to be part of a multidisciplinary team and who has experience in working with children and young people presenting with challenging behaviours in both mainstream and specialist settings.
