An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Newcastle Council’s SEND Support, Assessment and Review (SAR) Team as a SEND Caseworker with a focus on the EHC needs assessment, planning and annual review processes. We have a number of vacancies, both permanent and fixed term.
In Newcastle we believe that families are our most important resource, and as a SEND Caseworker you will be joining a supportive team of experienced Caseworkers committed to introducing and embedding Relational and Restorative Practice throughout all of its work.

We are looking for people who can build strong relationships with children and young people with SEND and their families, so they feel heard and understood and are provided with the support they need when they need it.

You will be responsible for coordinating Education, Health and Care assessments, plans and reviews. You will support and advise schools and settings on inclusive practice, and you will also coordinate various agency involvement whilst maintaining the focus on positive and beneficial support for children and young people with SEND and their families.

You will use your excellent communication and organisational skills, along with your knowledge and experience to ensure a joined up and informed approach to your work. A collaborative approach to working is key. You will have a dedication to learning and developing yourself in the role as well as sharing good practice, learning points and ideas with colleagues and the wider service for the benefit of the people who work within the service but also those who access our services.
