We are looking for experienced Occupational Therapists, who want to progress their careers in a highly rewarding area of work where they can make a real difference to the lives of residents/clients.

Please note for this role you must be HCPC registered and have a valid UK driving licence with access to a car.

Someone who likes variety in their working day and working life who is keen to develop their Occupational Therapy skills through involvement with a wide range of clients with wide ranging health and social care needs.

We currently have a vacancy within the West locality for an Occupational Therapist with a particular interest in neuro. This is a full-time position, 37 hours per week. The salary for this post is £35411 - £39,493.

Within the Short-Term Support Service;

• Our staff provide a seamless service of community Occupational Therapy alongside Team Supervisors and Reablement Workers and NHS Physiotherapists and Technical Instructors, working across both primary and secondary healthcare as part of the multi-disciplinary/multi-agency team for adult rehabilitation.

• The service combines working alongside re-ablement support workers to help clients achieve their re-habilitation goals as well as carrying out rapid assessment and intervention, providing an urgent community response service.

• We work with adult residents of Northumberland to provide assessment and Rehabilitation service for adults with various conditions including orthopedic, neurological as well as referrals for older people with age related conditions, falls and stroke. This makes the work varied and interesting but also very rewarding.

• Community work is interesting and varied giving you the opportunity to be involved in everything from assessing for and providing basic and complex equipment right through to development and progressing rehabilitation programmes. The Short-Term Support Service plays a pivotal role in supporting hospital discharge and admission avoidance and intervention can takes place in client's homes, Residential/Nursing homes. Less frequently some therapy activities may/ will occur in the hospital setting and other community settings, for example Leisure/Community Centre for group work.

• Staff manage a caseload of clients (often with highly complex needs), using evidence-based clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions to promote independence and achievement of the client's own goals.

• Staff provide leadership and clinical education for junior, student and support staff, through supervision, as appropriate to the banding of the post.

• Staff participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects through specialist interest and steering group.
