Northumberland Skills deliver DWP employment programmes including Restart and Better Working Futures and provides specialised employment support for people with disabilities and long-term unemployed people. The successful candidate will be based with the Employability Team within service, working alongside employability and curriculum programme staff including Employment Coaches, Business Advisers and Tutors and with other Council services supporting residents to take up employment and training opportunities.

The role

The primary function of the Health and Wellbeing Employment Coach is to support participants to better manage health conditions and promote wellbeing activities that help participants to move closer to employment. You will be responsible for creating Health and Wellbeing plans for participants with both mental and physical health issues; developing partnerships and referral pathways with local health organisations and acting as an advocate for participants. You will actively engage with referral organisations to develop referral pathways for participants who require specific, specialist support and you will signpost participants to these organisations.

It will be your responsibility to actively seek to understand the local health and wellbeing landscape across Northumberland and develop relationships and partnerships with local organisations, explaining the programme to various stakeholders. It is expected that you will work closely with Employment Coaches to identify appropriate health and wellbeing interventions for participants that will complement actions and activities in participants employment action plans. You will work directly with participants and will have an active caseload of customers that you will support across programmes.

We are seeking an engaging individual with excellent interpersonal skills who will feel at ease working within an employability service and supporting individuals to move closer to the labour market. The role is based in the Southeast of Northumberland; however, you will support residents across the Northumberland area as required.

This is a permanent position.

Full time 37 hours per week
