Newcastle City Council is looking to appoint two student planners on a one-year fixed term contract to support the delivery of its planning service. The post-holders will be working in our multi-disciplinary team on a range of projects through the year and be able to gain experience in hands-on development management and planning policy work to help shape the future of the largest city in the North East of England. You will have the opportunity to work alongside specialist planning staff on a range of projects, including covering city centre redevelopment sites, new housing developments and householder extensions. You will also be involved in shaping future planning policies for the city and in assisting with the the digitisation of the City planning service.

Applicants must be working towards a degree or post-graduate qualification relevant to urban planning. At interview you will be required to demonstrate an understanding of planning legislation and how you have good communication skills, with the ability to identify solutions to solve problems, as well as having experience in collaborative working to flexible timescales.
