Required for Autumn Term 2023

School Moto & Ethos
Ready to Listen, Ready to Learn Together
All our young people to become Happy, Independent Learners who are Prepared for Adulthood

We have recently moved to a new, state of the art site in South Shields and the Governors and Head Teacher of Epinay Business & Enterprise School would like to appoint an outstanding, self-motivated, passionate specialist ASD Teacher to join our staff team. This is a unique opportunity for a suitable candidate to progress their career by joining a talented, hardworking and friendly team.

As part of our move to the new site, we introduced a discrete, specialist autistic provision (SENSES). Students within this provision have a primary diagnosis of Autism and present with complex speech, language and communication needs that often require the use of alternative communication methods, for example PECCS. They have complex sensory processing differences that require a customised environment and very high levels of support. The successful applicant will lead the SENSES hub.

Applicants will be an experienced and energetic practitioner with the knowledge, skills and understanding of a range of teaching, learning, assessment and positive behaviour management strategies to make a positive impact on the progress of our pupils within SENSES. You will be a highly motivated, innovative person with enthusiasm and commitment to educational excellence. The successful candidate will have excellent specialist knowledge and a proven track record of working with young people with a primary diagnosis of Autism. They will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with the proven ability to work collaboratively in a multi professional team.

Epinay Business & Enterprise School is an outstanding special needs school currently offering 186 places to pupils in KS1 – KS5.

Visits to the school can be arranged through Sandra Stephenson, Head’s PA on (0191) 489 8949 or email sstephenson5@epinay.org.

Epinay School and South Tyneside Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant pre-employment checks.

In line with the guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education, schools may carry out an online search as part of their due diligence on shortlisted candidates.
