Fixed Term contact for 3 years

South Tyneside Council is looking for two charismatic, proactive and creative Learning and Development Officers to support the wider development and delivery of our South Tyneside Care Academy, which is scheduled to launch in April 2023.

Reporting to the Care Academy Manager, you’ll be part of a brand-new team committed to raising standards through building a strong, sustainable social care workforce and learning culture across South Tyneside.

By providing the support to develop the skills and capabilities to deliver high quality services, the postholders will work with a range of colleagues across the system to develop the Academy’s learning and development offer. With substantial experience of working as a trainer in health and social care, you will be an advocate for best practice and enjoy getting the best out of people and have a passion for it.

The Academy will work in partnership with our social care partners, community and voluntary sector, education providers and local people. Together we will lead the way to promote social care careers across the borough and by pooling our collective expertise, creativity, and reach, we will place social care at the forefront of thinking when individuals are making decisions about their future career aspirations.

We can only do this with great staff who are encouraged and supported to develop, which is why we want to invest in them, listen to them and make sure we are representative of our local population and that we foster their health and wellbeing.

Opportunities like this don’t come around very often, so if you want to take advantage and feel you have a wide range of skills and experiences that will allow you to bring new ideas and knowledge to further this work, we want to hear from you. The successful applicant will share our enthusiasm, contributing to and influencing improved performance at an individual, team and service level.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Kathryn Lamb, Care Academy Manager on (0191) 4247630, kathryn.lamb@southtyneside.gov.uk

Focusing on People, Place and Partnerships, this is a great time to join us. With our new Council Leadership, and a recent service review, we are developing our new 5-year Vision and Strategy for Adult Social Care and Commissioning to help support the next stage of our journey. Working closely with all our partners our vision for the future is to see every person in South Tyneside with care and support needs “Living Better Lives”, to fully utilise their strengths and assets, to remain safe and well; in the neighbourhoods and communities they call home.
