Permanent post

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a new challenge? Do you enjoy using language and communication to help people?

Bamburgh School is seeking to develop its in-house delivery of speech and language therapy by appointing a full time member of the team who will provide therapy sessions with children on a one-to-one and group basis. We are looking for a confident and supportive practitioner with experience of working with SEND pupils.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our Occupational Therapist and NHS practitioners, to develop strategies and plan resources for use in the classroom to promote the independence and communication for the young people in our care.

You will be responsible for planning timetables and sessions and coordinating the process of referrals to speech and language support. You will be expected to monitor the strategies you use in order to provide information to feed into the Education and Health Care Plans of the pupils with whom you work.

We are a school for pupils age 4-16 whose special needs cover a broad spectrum of medical, physical, social, emotional and moderate learning difficulties.

Further details about the post are available from Mrs Davina Smith, Office Manager on (0191) 427 4330. Visits to school are welcomed – please telephone the school to arrange.

South Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant pre-employment checks.

In line with the guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education, schools may carry out an online search as part of their due diligence on shortlisted candidates.
