An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join our Occupational Therapy/sensory support team. The team is committed to person-centred practice to promote independence, wellbeing and choice for service users and carers whilst addressing assessed needs.

You will be joining a very supportive and experienced team who work with adults from 18+, their families and carers. The team provides assessment of the client’s environment, and the provision of suitable home adaptations and specialist equipment including deaf/hard of hearing impairment and specialist visual impairment, and it may involve joint working with health and other agencies. The work involves commitment and the ability to make sound judgements, sometimes in an emergency.

The applicant would ideally have some experience of work within adult social care or within a therapy service, have some experience involving the assessment and provision of basic equipment and have knowledge of the Care Act 2014, it would be an expectation that the candidate would be willing to undertake further training to enhance their skills, including the assessment of deaf/hard of hearing and visual impairment clients

Professional support, supervision and appraisal is provided by the Team Manager and the Senior Practitioners from the team. The work base is at the Civic Centre and includes home working
