£29,439 pa pro-rata

Temporary contract for 12 months (with the possibility of being made permanent)

Required as soon as possible.

We wish to appoint an inspirational Assistant Head of Year with high aspirations, enthusiasm and a high level of commitment, with regards to raising students’ achievements and wellbeing across year groups. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and innovative individual who wants to make a real difference.

Can you demonstrate:

• energy, enthusiasm and vision;
• a commitment to improving the lives of young people;
• a willingness to take risks and support innovation;
• a commitment to being part of the pastoral team, striving for excellence;
• the ability to make inclusion a reality for all students;
• the ability to forge strong working relationships with all key stakeholders.

If so, Mortimer Community College currently has just the vacancy you are looking for. We can offer:

• a school that was recognised nationally in 2020 as being in the top 200 improving and performing schools in the country;
• a school that is rated “Good” by Ofsted - under the new framework - with many “Outstanding” features;
• a school where mental health is embraced and is part of the culture of the school;
• a school where students and staff are valued, and chasing positions on league tables is not a priority;
• a long-term approach to improvement, focused on life-long learning for all and quality teaching and learning.

“Staff feel well supported. They are a highly motivated team who are proud to work at the school.” Ofsted 2019.

Mortimer Community College and South Tyneside Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant pre-employment checks.

In line with the guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education, schools may carry out an online search as part of their due diligence on shortlisted candidates.
