South Tyneside Council is recruiting an enthusiastic Software Developer to join our Digital and ICT Service.

This position is ideal for a self-driven, passionate and result focused person who is interested in beginning a career in software development. This appointment would normally be at the lower end of the salary scale with opportunities for formal salary progression as development milestones/ competencies are achieved. However, a higher starting salary within the range could be available for an exceptional candidate with more skills and experience.

You will work within our Software Development Team, which is responsible for the development, implementation and improvement of software and digital solutions to improve services for the residents and businesses of South Tyneside.

The ideal candidate will:
• have experience of developing software systems and digital solutions;
• have a basic understanding of front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript;
• have knowledge of C#, .Net and ASP.Net MVC;
• be able to work in an Agile environment;
• be familiar with database technology such as Microsoft SQL Server and other RDBMS;
• have strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• learn quickly from setbacks and problems and use the learning to deliver new and better outcomes.
