A new exciting opportunity has been created within the city council public health department to lead our Public Health Literacy portfolio, focused on empowering people who live, work and study in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Working with a small, skilled portfolio team of public health practitioners the successful candidate will be responsible for building capacity across the city in our communities, businesses and providers through a range of workforce development and training programmes such as MECC and IBA; developing the local public health expertise; and expand Newcastle’s community engagement and empowerment through the Community Champions and WHO Healthy Cities programmes.
We are looking for candidates who are dynamic, focused and skilled, and capable of driving inclusive initiative’s that inspire individuals and deliver for our residents.
The role will involve acting as a key member of the public health senior leadership team, responsible for overseeing elective placements, embedded research, apprenticeship opportunities and the regional UKPHR scheme. This is a permanent role for someone who is passionate about addressing health inequalities, engaging with communities and workforce development.
