Workplace Location: Thurston Outdoor Education Centre, Coniston, Cumbria

£21,189 pa pro rata (£10.98 ph)

An enthusiastic person is required to take on the post of Centre Assistant/Trainee Instructor.

This is a live in, Temporary post for 12 months which may be extended for up to 24 months

Work pattern: 2 Week Rota
Week 1: 35 hours (PAID) in the House/Kitchen as Centre Assistant
Week 2: Monday to Friday as a Trainee Instructor (UNPAID) working with a group instructor
Other hours, such as Evening Duties/Weekend Work may be necessary and these will be agreed upon with the Head of Centre

Accommodation on site and food is provided in lieu of Week 2 Trainee work.

The position involves working alongside permanent instructors delivering outdoor activities to mainly young people one week and helping in the house and kitchen as a centre assistant the next.

Full in house training is given and the opportunity to take National Governing Body Awards for the outdoors and gain experience with a variety of groups is offered.

This is an ideal position for anyone starting a career in the outdoor industry, giving opportunities to develop Coaching /Teaching skills while living in the Lake District National Park.
