We are looking to recruit a number of Regulatory Enforcement Officers within our Environmental Protection team. The team deals with waste regulation, dog control, litter and other local environmental quality issues.

The role will be to help reduce environmental crime and anti-social behaviour, by patrolling the city centre and neighbourhoods, reporting and investigating witnessed offences, engaging with communities and taking visible enforcement action.

You must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team. This is an active role and will include the requirement to issue fixed penalty notices for offences relating to, littering, dog fouling, and waste management, and to assist in the preparation of legal files. You should be confident in a variety of situations, able to walk for long periods of time, comfortable speaking to members of the public, colleagues, and partner organisations, and have good negotiating and observational skills.

The shift pattern will be 5 days over 7 to include Saturdays and Sundays. Weekend working attracts pay enhancements. There will also be some out-of-hours working available, for which additional payment would be made, and opportunities to work with other teams, dealing with community safety, pollution, licensing and major events.
