We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced mental health social worker to join our adult social care team in North Northumberland.

Teams are now aligned with the Primary Care Networks developed as part of the NHS long term plan and secondary care services, and you will also work closely with Approved Mental Health Professionals, in Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear Mental Health Trust.

Our vision is to develop the mental health social work role to be integrated with related health colleagues to deliver better outcomes for the people we support.

This is an opportunity to apply your social work/professional skills, values, and specialist knowledge in the context of working with complex ethical and legislative processes.

You will deliver a range of assessment and care interventions which will promote mental health wellbeing and social inclusion wherever possible.

The main responsibilities include:
-To participate in and contribute to the multi-disciplinary team, articulating the social care perspective and ensuring that meeting the social care needs of service users retains a high priority and profile within the functioning of the team.

-Case manage and undertake proportionate assessment and effective risk management of complex situations, understanding when to take positive risks as appropriate.

-To provide professional leadership in situations which have highly complex case arrangements for assessment and support planning in situations which involve risk, complexity and safety of the service user and others.

-To work in line with all relevant policies and procedures, including care planning, risk and safeguarding.

-To provide written and verbal reports, appropriate for courts and other legal purposes, which are concise, informative and based on complex evidence to support problem solving and resolution


Requirement of the role:
-Degree in Social Work.
-Experience of Social Work with adults whose primary need is mental health is preferred.
-Due to the nature of this role, it is an essential requirement that the post holder has a valid driving licence and has access to a car they can use for work purposes.
