About Us: Adult Social Care is changing in South Tyneside. We are a forward-thinking Council that is developing innovative approaches to meet our challenges. This is a great time to join us. Our recently launched 5-year Vision and Strategy for Adult Social Care sees us working closely with all our partners to deliver our “Living Better Lives” vision for the future.

Joining us at this time will ensure you are at the forefront of helping to develop and embed co-production and co-delivery, contributing to our strengths-based social work model to deliver excellent outcomes for the people of South Tyneside. We remain fully committed to supporting our staff to grow and develop, and we will provide you with the opportunity to use your skills, learn new ones and progress your career.

About the Role:

Working as a Social Worker is both at times challenging and rewarding. That’s why we believe it is vitally important to have the opportunity to complete your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) in a nurturing environment with a comprehensive package of support. Sitting within a cohort of newly qualified social workers you will develop professional competencies in one of our friendly social work teams, building professional curiosity in your practice whilst keeping the people you work at the heart of everything you do.

Carrying a reduced caseload, we will support you to develop your knowledge base and help you to transfer your application of theory into practice. Supported by an experienced social work mentor and dedicated managers within the service you will undertake a range of strengths-based interventions to ensure adults with care and support needs, their families and carers achieve their desired outcomes.

For successful applicants there will be an opportunity to start employment a non-social work role such as Social Work Practitioner / Home First Practitioner which will help bridge the gap before gaining your social work qualifications and formal registration.

We offer an excellent benefits package and further information is available here - www.southtyneside.gov.uk/workinghere

South Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant pre-employment checks.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Jeanette Penman, Practice and Safeguarding Service Manager (PSW) on (0191) 4247491 or Jeanette.Penman@southtyneside.gov.uk
