Newcastle City Council (City Transport) are seeking an experienced time served motor vehicle technician to take up a permanent position. The successful candidate would join the team in our Heavy Goods vehicle workshop at Newington Rd.

City Transport maintains & repairs a diverse range of vehicles, plant, & horticultural equipment as well as having two MOT stations, testing class 4,5 & 7 vehicles & Licenced Taxis & hackney carriages.

The successful candidate will have the skills & experience to achieve the effective & efficient maintenance, diagnostics, & repair of the council’s Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) fleet, including an understanding of VOSA standards enabling them to prepare & present LGV’s for MOT.

They will have served a recognised apprenticeship in motor vehicle engineering to NVQ level 3 or equivalent & be conversant with the maintenance & repair standards in relation to operator licencing. A category B driving licence is essential with category C LGV licence being highly advantageous.

Newcastle City Council Currently offer the following
• Monday to Friday 37 hour working week
• Starting Salary of £32,020 Rising to £35,411
