An opportunity has arisen with Northumberland County Councils Repairs and Maintenance team for a suitably qualified and experienced electrician. We are looking for someone with a positive “can do “ attitude, a desire to do a good job and understanding of the relevant electrical regulations and good working practices in domestic housing.

The post holder will be responsible for carrying out a range of electrical related tasks, including electrical maintenance on all residential housing stock, electrical testing, fault finding and rectification. 

The post holder must hold a current 18th edition inspection and testing qualification and be trained as a level 3 City and Guilds Electrician or equivalent as a minimum requirement. If successful, you will be part of a dedicated, multi disciplined team, delivering excellent customer-focused service across our housing portfolio.

You will take pride in making a positive difference to customers and maintaining our homes to the highest standard by embracing and working to the Councils service plans and commitment to the people of Northumberland. Outside of the standard working week, we do operate an out of hours emergency service and the post holder will be expected to join the rota, for which a payment is made The successful applicant will have a full driving license and relevant qualifications.


· Working across Northumberland carrying out electrical repairs and testing on the County Councils housing stock.
· You will complete a wide range of electrical repairs to our customers' homes which could vary from fitting a smoke alarm to fault finding or carrying out rewiring work.
· We are looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking, has great customer service skills and who adopts the NCC values which are: Residents first, excellence and quality, respect, keeping our communities safe and well.
· You will be based at the Cowley Road Depot in Blyth, but every day you will be working across Northumberland working in customers' homes.
· A starting salary of £33,024 rising to £36,648 (Band 7)
· Contract type: Permanent 

· 18th Edition inspection and testing qualification and be trained as a level 3 City and Guilds Electrician or equivalent as a minimum requirement.

· Valid Full UK driving license.

· Be comfortable using a multi skilled approach.

· Reflect Experience of working safely in occupied premises

· Good Communication skills.

· Multi-skilled with a can-do approach.

· Ability to work at height using the Councils safe working at height system for which training will be given.

· Asbestos Aware. 

· Good working knowledge of general health and safety. 

· Ability to undertake training as required to enhance service delivery in a safe manner.

 · 18th Edition inspection and testing qualification and be trained as a level 3 City and Guilds Electrician or equivalent as a minimum requirement. 

· Valid Full UK driving license. 

· Reflect Experience of working safely in occupied premises · Good Communication skills.
