Northumberland Archives is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic person to join our team. The role involves participating in our searchroom rota; providing an advisory service to searchroom users; directing the work of Archive Assistants, distributing and responding to email and telephone queries; undertaking research requests; participating in our digitisation and digital preservation programmes; ingesting digital content to

PRESERVICA; being the main point of contact for Northumberland coronial staff with responsibility for cataloguing coroners’ records and dealing with coronial enquiries; inputting data to CALM; under the supervision of an Archivist participating in our on-going cataloguing programme and participating in and supporting our programme of outreach activities.

The role is based at Northumberland Archives, Woodhorn, Ashington, Northumberland, NE63 9YF. 

The postholder is expected to travel to our branch office at Berwick and to other venues across the county.

THIS IS A 0.61 FTE POST (22.5 HOURS PER WEEK).

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

· You will have a good general education.

· You will have strong digital skills.

· You will have knowledge of family and local history sources.

· You will have experience of inputting data to a computer.

· You will be able to write effectively.

· You will be a good communicator – this is a public facing role.

· Experience of working in an archive or similar public facility would be an advantage.

· You will need to prove your right to work in the UK to NCC before you start working for us.

· Ability to work at evenings and weekends as required.

· Ability to travel to venues across Northumberland.
