Specialist social worker roles in Durham
Join the Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Childrens team
Durham County Council have some exciting opportunities available within their Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children’s (UASC) Team.
The UASC team work with young people and care leavers who are claiming asylum in the UK and have been separated from parents or carers.
Throughout this time, they require care and support from the local authority. This is a small but dedicated team who are recognised in specialising within this area, which merges knowledge of Children in Care and also the asylum process.
They value the relationships they are able to build with the young people who they support. At present, the council support young people from across 15 different countries!
The team strive to meet the needs of the young people whilst also recognising that they are continuously learning about cultures, religions and shared values. They work with young people to help them feel settled, safe and hopeful about their new beginnings whilst recognising the individual support they need.
