Happy New Year and welcome to the first Thursday Spotlight feature of 2025.

Spotlight is your weekly focus on some of the fantastic new job opportunities available in our region on North East Jobs.

SPOTLIGHT FOCUS 

This week, we've got a focus on a great new HR role in Redcar and have spoken to Hannah Lindsey, HR Advisory Manager at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council. We have asked her the following questions:

1. What attracted you to working in your current role?
I was drawn to the role of HR Advisory Manager because it offers a unique opportunity to work closely with both leadership and employees, providing guidance on HR policies, employee relations, and organisational development, which aligns with my desire to create positive work environments. I am excited by the prospect of influencing HR practices that not only support business goals but also foster a culture of collaboration, growth, and fairness.

2. What has been your biggest challenge to date?
My biggest challenge as a HR Advisory Manager has been navigating the complexities of balancing organisational objectives with individual employee needs. This often requires a delicate approach, especially when addressing sensitive issues such as performance management, conflict resolution, or implementing change.

3. What has been your most satisfying outcome of the role?
The most satisfying outcome I’ve experienced as an HR Advisory Manager was successfully leading a comprehensive organisational change initiative. By working closely with leadership and employees, I helped navigate a complex restructuring process that not only aligned with the company’s strategic goals but also supported employee development and morale.

HR Advisor - Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council

Electric Vehicle Technical Support Officer - Durham County Council
Salary: £27,269 to £30,060 • Closing date: 19th January

You'll work as part of the Low Carbon Economy Team with responsibility for the development of Electric Vehicle charge point infrastructure and maintenance across County Durham. You'll assist the EV Project Officer with the delivery of new charging points, working with contractors, both internal and external and with communications and engagement, whilst also maintaining and monitoring the current EV charge point infrastructure.

Great opportunity in Darlington for an experienced Estates Officer to join the council's busy Estates and Property team, gaining hands-on involvement in a broad portfolio ranging from asset management to major economic development projects.
