Further Information
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent full-time Sensory Support Social Worker, based initially at Ideal House in Thornaby. The team is staffed by Social Workers, Social Care Officers and administrative officers and is now part of the newly formed Early Intervention and Prevention Service.

The Team responds to requests for specialist assessments of need relating to adults and children with sensory needs. The main aims of the team are to:
- Assess needs
- Prevent the escalation of needs/risks and promote well-being
- Promote independence and quality of life
- Minimise the impact of on-going needs upon the lives of those with long term conditions before referring onwards for support planning services
- Delay the on-set of long term needs for formal support by promoting independence and working with people and their families to use community resources and informal networks effectively.

The successful applicant will be able to effectively manage a caseload of short-term clients and therefore organisational and problem-solving skills are essential.

This post is open to both experienced and Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs).
NQSWs will be supported to complete the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment.
