Post title: Supported Internship Co-ordinator – full time, temporary until 31 July 2021.
PLEASE NOTE: the funding for this project runs until July 2021 as per the job description.

Salary: £32,233 - £36,153 Grade 11 (pro-rata to hours worked if applicable)

Job Location: this post will be based in The Work Place in Newton Aycliffe. However, you may be required to work at any Durham County Council location, according to the needs of the service.

We have a fantastic opportunity within Durham County Council to be able to drive forward the development and growth of Supported Internships across the county. Supported Internships are a valuable offer for young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs or Disabilities) to enable them to fulfil their potential as they transition to adulthood. They offer young people with SEND the chance to gain sustainable paid employment though learning in the workplace.

The post will have responsibility for co-ordinating Supported Internship provision across County Durham, using innovative and creative approaches to increase the number and range of Supported Internship opportunities available.

You will need experience of working with young people with SEND, managing projects and working with employers. A sound knowledge of the post 16 education sector, especially in relation to those with SEND is required. You will be able to negotiate and influence at a high level with a strong passion for improving and increasing progression opportunities for young people with SEND.

Required qualifications: Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline and / or able to demonstrate relevant experience.
