The North East Combined Authority has an exciting and innovative opportunity for an Employment Coach to join the North East Mental Health Trailblazer project. The role will provide a range of intensive and tailored employment support to help out-of-work benefit claimants in Durham local authority area with mental health conditions to develop the skills and attributes needed to move from into work.

Please note that this is a fixed term position for 6 - 12 months.

The project will pilot an approach to support jobseekers with mental health conditions into employment through a service integration approach, working with mental health therapy providers. The successful candidate will be part of a team of employment coaches delivering individual job brokerage and related support to move people into work and help them stay in work.
Staff will be based with the Talking Changes Service Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) team. The successful candidate will have proven experience of supporting workless people into employment, and excellent customer service skills, with a performance driven approach to meeting targets. There will be an excellent understanding of labour markets and matching jobseekers with employer needs. Ability to work effectively in partnership with a range of health and employment services is essential.

The locality includes: Seaham Health Centre, St Johns Square, Seaham, SR7 7JE/ Talking Changes Service (IAPT Service), St Aidens House, Bishop Auckland, DL14 6SA / North End House, 42 North End, Durham, DH1 4LW, and there will be a requirement to work from GP practices and community venues throughout Durham for outreach services.
The job will also include regular travel to neighbouring local authority areas/clusters.
