PRACTICE MANAGER – SUPPORTING AND STRENGTHENING FAMILIES
(CHILDREN AND FAMILIES SOCIAL CARE, SOUTH TYNESIDE)
£47,578 pa

Come and join a “good” and “outstanding” Children’s and Families Service.

“Workforce development is a significant strength, and there is a very strong commitment to continuing professional development. South Tyneside appropriately prioritises recruitment and retention of high-quality professionals.” (OFSTED 2017).

Our Children and Families Service in South Tyneside are entering an exciting period in the development of the service we offer our most vulnerable families.

Having recently been graded as Good by Ofsted we are determined to push the service to the next level and improve things further to ensure we achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.

To do this we need the best professionals, who are motivated and determined to drive an already successful and effective service further. As a result of South Tyneside’s drive to improve we are increasing capacity and develop our staff team, that is already “stable, well supported and provides the right conditions for social work to flourish”.

Therefore, in order to take our ambitions further, we have a number of opportunities for Practice Managers, to join our management team due to expansion of the service and internal progression of existing staff.

“Senior leaders have ensured that staff development and support have been effectively prioritised, and staff morale is good. The workforce is stable, motivated and child focused.” (OFSTED 2017).

The Supporting and Strengthening Families Team’s provide packages of support and interventions to a wide range of children, young people and their families including children in need of protection and those looked after for whom a permanency plan is yet to be finalised. You will be responsible for ensuring that children in need, including those in need of care and protection receive safe, effective, timely and outcome focussed support and intervention. The interventions will be social work led, relationship based and centre on team around the child/family and strength based approaches and reflect a shared remit to safely increase the number of children in need that are able to remain within their own families and communities.

As a Practice Manager you will play an important role in leading and supporting the future development of social work ‘led’ interventions across the continuum of needs and services within Child in Need, Child Protection and Care Proceedings. You will be responsible for management, development and supervision of a team of Social Workers managing caseloads of our most vulnerable families, ensuring timely and proportionate response to risk and need. Additional to day-to-day management there will be opportunities to work alongside the Senior Management Team to develop and promote effective engagement with families across the partnership in the borough. You will be given the opportunity to engage in bespoke training and development focussed on furthering your skills and experiences as a manager within Children’s Social Care.
