The post is located within the recently established Economy and Regeneration Service, whose core purpose is to deliver the Council’s priority of Economic Growth. This includes the influencing of national and regional policy and co-ordinating and driving forward of the delivery and management of regeneration and economic growth projects including those funded with European Structural funds.

You will work as part of a team of 6 staff responsible for the financial management, monitoring and reporting of externally funded projects being delivered both within Northumberland and the wider North East area.

The role will have specific responsibility for the preparation of programme level claims for ERDF and ESF funded projects and for the provision of advice and support to delivery partners on ESIF funding compliance requirements.

This role is part financed by the European Development Fund (ERDF) and European Social Fund (ESF) as part of the England 2014 - 2020 European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) Growth Programme.

The role is initially offered on a 2 year fixed term basis, with the potential for an extension subject to funding.

Essential requirements:

You will have an NVQ level 4 or equivalent in a business or finance discipline or a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role. You will have an excellent knowledge of grant management procedures along with an excellent understand of the technical financial requirements for European grant claim preparation and submission.

You will have well developed interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to quickly build good working relationships both within the Team and with external organisations. The ability to converse at ease with Partners and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
