A vacancy has arisen for an Economic Development Officer within the Economic Development Unit within Place Directorate.

Supporting the Council’s vision, you will investigate opportunities for commercial growth and research and help to deliver initiatives to support both local business growth and inclusive growth. With a sound understanding of the key components to successful economic development you will have the ability to understand economic intelligence to shape and inform service delivery plans in the future for our city which has a flourishing national and international reputation.

You will have experience of working in a business-related field, have a strong business network, negotiation and influencing skills with some project management and delivery experience. You will be able to demonstrate strong evidence of decision making, taking responsibility and problem solving and be comfortable representing the Council at a range of stakeholder meetings.

The post holder will work to develop and maintain links and partnerships with a range of internal and external partners and stakeholders across all sectors, including businesses, business representative organisations and appropriate public-sector agencies to ensure the delivery of project products are to the required standard of quality and within time & costs constraints. You will be able to demonstrate relevant experience and responsibility of delivering Economic Development outcomes.

The post holder will work closely with project managers delivering individual projects within a programme portfolio, to ensure that priorities are set, conflicts are resolved, and resources focused on the projects that will deliver our strategic objectives. A key element of this role is to provide advice, support, technical assistance and ensure compliance across a range of external funding programmes e.g. particularly European Structural Investment Funds and Local Growth Fund
