This post is based at the centre of the council in the Resources Directorate which has key responsibility for managing the council’s money and people as well as ensuring that democratic decisions are well informed and legally sound.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of a small team dedicated to the provision of discretionary financial support and quality assurance of benefit assessments. The team forms part of a wider Recovery and Support Team Function within the Corporate Resources Directorate. We are looking for a competent, self-motivated individual with a proven track record within a general public facing service area. The post holder will assess and administer discretionary payments and will quality check Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support assessments. The role will involve working to targets to ensure that checking quotas are met and that discretionary support claims are kept up to date.
You will need to be able to demonstrate current experience of checking or assessing Housing Benefit and Council Tax support claims. Candidates will also need to be able to demonstrate experience of dealing with partner organisations such as Registered Social Landlords, Advice Agencies and the Department for Work and Pensions. Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills will be key requirements of the role.
